Can He Dunk? Project

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Our friend Peter Robert Casey recently posted an interesting article about a new experiment that’s underway called Can He Dunk?. The project that launched last week, showcases a group of high school basketball players who can’t dunk, puts them through a rigorous (goal specific) 10-week training program, and measures the results at the end. The mastermind behind the project, Alan Stein, is an internationally renowned strength and conditioning coach. He says that the purpose of this project is “to show the world the realistic results you can attain from proper training. We aim to prove how fraudulent those folks are that claim they can help you get a 50” vertical or improve a player’s vertical jump by 12 inches in 6 weeks”, but also adds “we make no promise that any of the participants will be able to dunk. We are merely showing real players with real results.”

Check out the preview video and be sure to Follow the players progress.

Cutters Gloves Acquires Nokona

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

In breaking news, Cutters Gloves has acquired majority ownership in Nokona, one of the original American-made baseball glove companies. This makes for an interesting merger as Cutters (entering its 14th year of operation) is known to be a market leader in cutting-edge, innovative, high-performance gloves for football, baseball, and golf. While Nokona (entering its 85th year in existence) is known for its deep rooted traditionalism and its legacy for high quality, hand-crafted fielding gloves.

The question remains as to what effect the flash of Cutters Gloves will have on the look, feel, and performance of the Nokona product line. What do you think?
